The Jersey Diabetes Centre, also known as the Department of Metabolic Medicine, is located at Overdale Hospital, Westmount Road. It is open daily from 9.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Thursday and 9.00am to 1.00pm on Friday.
The Centre is home to a host of health care professionals and administration staff. Various clinics are held during the week by the diabetic consultants that cover diabetes, endocrinology and medicine. In addition nurse-led dietetic and podiatry clinics are also held. The Centre is in constant use so appointments are necessary so do telephone and book in!
The Centre can provide written information about diabetes, provide blood glucose diaries, offer advice about blood glucose monitoring equipment, sell blood glucose strips and lancets, provide ‘sharps’ bins for the safe disposal of needles and generally acts as a resource for everyone with diabetes, their carers and family as well as other health professionals. From 20 November 2019, diabetes ancillaries (testing strips, lancets, etc) will be available on you GP’s prescription at no cost from nominated pharmacies.
